About AAPM
The First Graduate PM Certification on Earth
The AAPM American Academy of Project
Management® and its GAFM/IBS International Board
of Standards are pioneers in project management
certification, being the first global graduate Board of
Standards to earn ISO 9001 and ISO 21001
accreditation under the SIS-OE European Standards.
AAPM is also a member of several esteemed
organizations, including the Academic Council for the
United Nations System, UN Civil Society, and the
Credential Evaluation Association International (CEA),
promoting quality assurance and higher education
standards worldwide.
AAPM certifications cater to professionals with
accredited degrees or significant project management
experience. The organization offers specialized
graduate designations, such as MPM® Master Project
Manager® and CIPM® Certified International Project
Manager®, designed to elevate candidates above
basic certifications. These credentials are awarded
based on a combination of graduate education,
industry experience, ethical understanding, and
ongoing professional development.
Key certifications include the MPM® and CIPM®,
which require either an accredited degree or approved
training, along with relevant project management
experience. AAPM also recognizes professionals
through an executive exam waiver for qualified
individuals. The organization emphasizes continuing
education and annual professional development to
maintain credentials.
AAPM is ISO-certified under 9001, 21001, and 29993
standards and is the first to approve ABA-accredited
law school courses for graduate executive education,
leading to certification. It partners with over 40
approved project management programs globally,
allowing graduates to apply for certifications through
streamlined pathways.
Recognized under Executive Order 13932, AAPM
credentials are equivalent to degrees or diplomas for
federal hiring, prioritizing skills and productivity.
Professionals seeking global certifications can submit
their resumes to the International Project
Management Commission (IPMC) or participate in
AAPM-approved training programs.
